Regularly practicing Pilates will help to improve general fitness and overall wellbeing. Fitness Pilates works on the core muscles (back and abdominal area) whilst the moves are also designed to work the muscles of the entire body.
Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility with a big focus on the mind-body connection. While doing the various exercises your mind needs to be constantly aware of your breathing and the way your body moves.
It's a great way to unwind and relax. The exercises are safe, yet challenging, and will result in improved balance and co-ordindation along with a general feeling of wellbeing.
Comfort is essential when deciding what to wear for our Fitness Pilates classes; form-fitting clothes are most popular, however this class can even be carried out in your pyjamas if you are taking part at home! Shoes are not necessary.
Our classes always involve some floor work and an exercise mat or towel is essential. A number of exercises will also include the use of a Pilates band and exercise ball. These can be purchased relatively cheaply, or you can substitute them using two full tins and a small cushion.
As with all exercise, it is important to remain well hydrated and we strongly suggest having water to drink throughout all of our classes.
